25 October 2004 NEW OWNERS FOR LEADING SA BRANDS DETTOL & DISPRIN Valbridge Trust, a Durban-based company, specialising in management buy-outs, has assisted a combined management team to purchase Reckitt Benckiser South Africa’s (RBSA) pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Enaleni Pharmaceuticals, the largest black empowered pharmaceutical manufacturer in South Africa with a 32% stake, continues to manufacture Disprin, Dettol and Gaviscon for RBSA. “In the 18 months since inception Enaleni has gone from strength to strength and has acquired stakes in Muscle Science, Kamilan and Modex,” says Carl Malcomess an executive trustee of Valbridge Trust. Valbridge Trust who specialise in management buy-out’s / buy-in’s by acting for management during the negotiations offer a service which many management teams do not have at the outset. “Often individuals who were involved in the management of a company know a lot about the business & how to run it, but have no idea how to go about buying it,” says Valbridge executive trustee Jane Wiltshire. “We provide the management team with the tools they need to pull off the deal successfully, whilst at the same time guiding them through the process.” For this deal Valbridge Trust brought the two parties, buyers and sellers, together, assisted in negotiating the manufacturing and purchasing agreements with Reckitt Benckiser and obtained the funding on behalf of the management grouping. Valbridge Trust recently negotiated the buy-out buy-in deal for the purchase of the Unilever South Africa Foods’ (USAF) food ingredients factory, whose products include Marmite and Bovril. |
